Privacy
Student and course data never leave your browser. Everything you type into TranscriptKit (school and student details, courses, grades, notes) is processed on your device. It is never sent to our server or to anyone else, and we do not store it.
Where your draft is saved
The builder saves one draft in your browser’s local storage, on this device only, so it is still there when you come back. Anyone who uses this browser profile can see it. Click "Clear" in the builder to delete it, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings. "Export file" downloads a copy to your computer; "Import file" reads it back in your browser. Neither goes through us.
With Pro, the extra students, their saved drafts and course descriptions are stored the same way: in this browser’s local storage, on this device only. Removing a student or a draft deletes it from this browser.
Pro waitlist
If you join the waitlist we store your email address, the plan and Pro feature you clicked, the time you ticked the consent box and the time you signed up. Apart from a Pro license key (below), that is the only information our server ever receives from this site. We use it to send one email when Pro launches, and we never share or sell it. To be removed, reply to that email or write to [email protected], and we will delete it.
Pro license key
If you buy Pro, your license key is saved in this browser, and the page sends that key (and nothing else) to our server to check that it is still active, about twice a day. The key identifies the purchase, not your student. Payments are handled by our payment provider, who sends us the buyer’s email address and order details so we can issue and, after a refund, cancel the key.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, does not track you across sites and collects only aggregate visit data (pages viewed, referrer, country, browser and device type). It never sees what you type into the builder: transcript data is not in page addresses and is not sent with any request. There are no ad trackers.
Rate limiting
To stop spam and key guessing, waitlist submissions and license checks are rate-limited using a hashed form of your IP address that expires within minutes.
Light or dark mode
If you switch themes, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage on your device only.
Who runs this
TranscriptKit is a Quietworks product, hosted on Cloudflare. The Quietworks privacy policy also applies.
About the transcript itself
TranscriptKit is a tool for making the document: it doesn’t certify, accredit or approve anything. Many colleges accept parent-issued transcripts; requirements vary, so check with each school and your state’s homeschool laws.
